I’m back.  Here it is 10:30 at night and I have finally finished my witch boots.  It only took me 8 and a half hours today to sew them.  Just 8 and a half hours!!  I must be the slowest hand stitcher alive.  I really miss my sewing machine.  Oh well.  I guess I could have finished a lot sooner if I hadn’t been distracted by Charmed or by the Oreos I kept shoving in my mouth.  Yumm Oreos…  You know what’s better than Oreos?  Double Stuff Oreos!  But, can I get Double Stuff Oreos in Korean?  NOOOOO!!

I woke up today at 12:45.  I love sleep!  Woke hubby up at one o’ clock.

Me:  Get me pizza!

Hubby:  Let me go wash and get dressed.

Hubby:  Maybe I should cut my hair?

Me:  Noooo!

Hubby:  But I look like a hobo.

Me:  You are hobo chic.

Now yes I love my husband and I love his long hair, but I am also quite devious and cannot let him cut it because….

He looks like Johnny Depp.  I am not joking.  When we went to America for Christmas last year, at two different times while we were in Wal-Mart (YEAH Wal-Mart, I miss you!) people came up to him asking him if he were in fact Johnny Depp.  Now this just made my day, because

1)  I like Johnny Depp,

2) I like it that my hubby is that hot

AND 3) I like it that my hubby doesn’t like Johnny Depp and he hates it when people say he looks like him.

I am even taking it so far as to make him a fedora to wear in America so that there is an even greater chance for mistaken identities.  Does that make me an evil wife?

While I work on my crafts, my hubby usually paints.  Today he tried to talk to me about his painting.  Our conversation went a little like this:

Hubby:  I don’t want to paint a tree.  A tree is cheesy.

Me:  When does the Halloween event end at Dunkin’ Donuts?

Hubby:  What?  How did you jump there?

Me:  ….

Hubby:  Are you even listening to me?

This is usually how are conversations go.  My hubby talking about important stuff, and me just constantly thinking about Halloween or food.  At that particular moment I was thinking about both because I really wanted a caramel coco from Dunkin’ Donuts.  That’s the best hot chocolate I have ever tasted.  And how could I not be consumed with Dunkin’ Donuts?  It is the only place in Korea that is acknowledging Halloween.

Before getting to the Halloween picture for today, I just wanted to show you a picture that pretty much sums up who my hubby and I are.  (My Hubby drew this of course)

So here we are; my Hobo chic Johnny Depp look -a -like artist hubby who loves coffee and likes philosophy.  And me a chocolate milkshake lover, with a big bear bag, a crochet purse and a strong obsession with cupcakes.

Gimme cupcake please?

Yep that pretty much sums us up.

Without further ado, here are my witch boots.

I call this my witch wall.

Now my hubby edited this picture, so you can not really tell but the socks are supposed to be yellow and purple.  I’ll have to post a picture of just the boots some other time to show you a close up of my handy work.

So I said in an earlier post- I think – that I wanted to try to do a new Halloween craft everyday – well at least work on one everyday – up until Halloween.

Things I have already made:

a crochet cauldron to hold candy (though there aren’t trick or treaters in Korea, so I will just have to offer the candy to my students when they come)

a spiderweb table topper that sits on my tutoring table.  I put my cauldron on top.  next to the cauldron sits the witch hat my husband bought for me last Halloween.

a crochet witchetty grub that is sitting on top of the candy inside the cauldron.

a Coraline doll I crocheted and is now sitting on my bookcase.

Some paper cut outs of a black cat, a witch, and a ghost that I put on my mirrors.

Pirate Pal. A crochet pirate.  I got the pattern from Lion Brand if you’re interested.  They also have a cute pumpkin pal.

Yesterday I made a small ghost bookmark out of felt.

Today I began to make some poison apples that I got from the book Witch Craft.

I only have one of the three cut out of felt.  I will begin sewing it together soon.  But since it is going on 7pm here I probably won’t start putting it together until tomorrow, since the hubby and I are watching Hellboy II at the moment.

The apples will probably take me a couple of days to complete.  Then I am on to the next project; a felt jack o’ lantern.

Not related to Halloween.  But related to fall.  I am knitting a shrug.  Yes, it is finally starting to get cool here.  FINALLY.  Anyway, still being a new knitter,  I became insanely frustrated with the pattern and tore my stitches out again and again.  I probably redid it about 5 or six times until I got the whole knit purl knit purl thing.  I had no idea (and the pattern never said) that if you start with a knit purl pattern on one side, when you turn it you then begin doing a purl knit purl knit.  Maybe my brain wasn’t functioning at 100 percent but it took me so long to figure it out.  It didn’t help that the pattern just said continue with the knit purl knit until you get to 5cm.  ><

WHY COULDN’T IT JUST SAY:

” Row 2: purl knit purl you dummy!”

Instead of claiming the pattern easy, they should have been more specific like saying “Yeah it’s easy.  It’s easy for advanced knitters, not for a beginner loser like you who is just going to mess up anyway and scream and cry and madly search google for the answer and not find it!”

Umm so anyway,  I finally figured it out on my own and I have actually gotten pretty quick with the needles.  But yeah, the shrug will probably still end up being a big pile of poop green.  As of now, though, I must say it is going well.  Just I am using big needles on not so thick yarn… But I have a big sweater that is like that and I love it, so maybe it will be wearable.  Let me rephrase.  Maybe it will be something I can wear outside, in public.
